It was late April in the Rocky Mountains so it was still cool and snow was still deep on the ground.  I took a day and drove to Glacier National Park since I was finished with work in Missoula.  There were very few visitors there so parking was easy and everything was peaceful.

I entered the park through the West Glacier entrance and drove as far as I could.  Most of the roads were still closed due to deep snow but I was able to drive to the Avalanche Lake trailhead.

The sign warning of bears was a little disconcerting but there were a few older people walking the trail and I figure I could outrun them so I was safe.
